Summit and the towns around it have a lot of working property: storefronts along Archer Avenue, light industrial buildings near the canal and the Stevenson, two-flats and small apartment buildings tucked into the residential blocks. When the concrete at one of those places breaks up, it becomes a safety problem and an eyesore, but the business or the building still has to function while it is fixed. Our crew plans commercial work with that in mind. We walk the property with you, watch how customers, tenants and delivery trucks move through it, and carve the job into chunks, closing one while the others carry on as normal. Typical projects include storefront and building walks, trash corral and compactor pads, level bases for condensers and generators, aprons and slabs for warehouses and service yards, and common walks for apartment buildings and associations. Underneath, nothing changes from our residential work: mushy soil removed, limestone tamped in lifts, depth and steel sized for what rolls across it, a planned joint grid and patient curing. Anything that will see dumpster trucks or forklifts gets extra depth and reinforcement.
